The Tidewater Hokie Club wants to congratulate MaryLynn Barksdale of Chesapeake, the winner of our 15 inch Bronze "Damon Hokie Bird" statue.

Tidewater Hokie Club President, Bill Jesse presents the Hokie Bird statue to the winner MaryLynn Barksdale (actually that is Andy, her husband)!

Judith Damon was commissioned by Virginia Tech to do a 10-foot tall likeness of the Hokie Bird. The Roanoke artist, is a fine arts graduate of Bennington College in Vermont and has extensive experience as a teacher of art. She specializes in sculpture and oil painting. Damon has a son who is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in aeronautical engineering. The "Big Guy" as Judith calls him, now resides in Cassell Coliseum and will make its final home in the future memorabilia area to be constructed as part of ongoing Lane Stadium's West Side expansion project.
